Compare the two

Ok I have had the baofeng for a while now and I have to say I'm very happy with it, it's a gt3tp so I have the maximum transmit power of 8watts and a long life battery on it and fully charged it happily lasts a week in my works van, I take it out on the weekend to charge it but it still has power to work and operate.

Good points:
Big battery
8watts of transmit power
Doesn't discharge when left off for weeks
Quite easy to operate
Cheap to buy
Comes with 12volt car charger plug for the base

Bad points:
Feels cheap
The charger pin bent 1st time I put it on charge
Not many optional accessories as the uv5-r or the wouxun has
Need to be careful with the programming cable as the socket is quite a way down
The audio gain is quite low and no way to adjust it
The packaging is a lot less
The operating manual is not all that good
The torch button didn't work (found the issue and fixed)

I haven't had the wouxun for as long but it has a lot of good points and some bad points

Good points:
Packaging is very good
Manual is very comprehensive
It has a very rugged feel to it
There are lots more accessories than the gt3
You have a tune dial that comes in handy doing things
The fm radio has presets
It has a nice feel when you hold the radio
Charger is a better fit
Audio is better than the baofeng

Bad points:
The way you operate the menus is a little more complex
The battery's discharge naturally when turned off
No charger socket for the base (optional extra)
Can't find a bigger battery so have to charge every other night
Not as much transmit power as the baofeng

My opinion of the radios.

Ok I have used both radios fo a little while and I can't fault either of them and I think both are good radios for what they are and I feel if I had to buy another radio I don't think I could say I'd buy one over the other as each are unique.

Baofeng gt3 a good cheap radio, maybe next time I'll buy a uv5-r tp instead if the gt3
Wouxun a more expensive radio when new but I can't fault it, maybe a bigger battery would help with using it

Summary: you get what you pay for, if you want a better quality more refined radio buy a wouxun, if you can't afford a wouxun then get a baofeng tp radio, I would recommend either as I'm more than happy with them.

Let's hope this one don't do the same!

Well after the battery being plugged in and left off charge for 5 days I thought it was time to test it, switched it on and bingo it worked now to leave it on and see how long the battery will last.

I feel happy to have one they look a nice little radio

Won a new wouxun radio

Well at last I waited long enough and I found another wouxun 2mtr and 4mtr dual band radio, it was a lot more than the other one and was used but I haven't seen another one listed on eBay after I found the last deal.

I put a bid in and won it I guess I see if it was worth the extra pennies when I get it.

2nd time lucky (I hope)

Well I have to say the postage was fast and it was well packed in the box, I unwrapped it and it was in vey good condition.

I plugged it all in and it was dead, placed it on charge and left it, let's hope this one don't do the same as the last one!

Faulty battery

I took it down the club and Keith lent me another battery from his kit to test the radio.

Had a brief chat on the radio and turned it off, I all of a sudden heard a very faint humming combing from the battery, removed the battery and found the noise stopped.

I guess I found the issue to be the radio faulty! Got on to the chap I purchased the item from and informed him and without question he told me to post it back to him and he will refund the money.

A very honest man just a shame my eBay bargain wasn't to be!

I have a flat!

I have had the wouxun radio a few days now and not had time to sit down and use it, I went to use it today and found it was dead, I have been tilt the wouxun battery will discharge over time but 3days? I guess the battery may be on its way out.

Put it back on charge and will test it in a few days.

Wouxun arrives

Ok my wouxun arrived today well impressed it's almost like new, plugged it in and put it on charge ready to play with tomorrow.

Looked at the specs of it and it's not a standard 2mtr 70cm band it appears to be a 4mtr 2mtr one, this is something very hard to find in a hand held radio! What a bonus!

See specs on back of the radio.

I WON I WON!!!

Well put that  cheeky little bid on the Wouxn KG-UV1P for a hardly used unit and I won this 2nd hand unit it for £23.00p off eBay!

I cant believe it, it doesn't state the frequency's it operates on but I guess 2mtr and 70cm range I guess ill see when it gets here.

I'm expecting the battery to need replacing but will see once it arrives.

Lets see what I get when it arrives
